The Third Daughter
The only escape from pogroms in Russia in the late 1800s and early 1900s for thousands of girls was the prospect of a job—or even better, a marriage— that would take each to “America.” Unfortunately, fleeing poverty and strife, estimated 200,000 Jewish girls and women found themselves in the clutches of Zwi Migdal, a legal traffickers’ union that operated with impunity throughout South America for 70 years! In this speech, author Talia Carner will reveal how the cries of these women, also shunned by the Jewish community, forced her to expose the most shameful chapter in our history. She will also educate your audience about actions that can be taken today to abolish the horror of human enslavement in your own backyard.
