Next Gen Engagement Coordinator

Reports To: Chief Development Officer
The United Jewish Federation of Tidewater is seeking an enthusiastic and relationship-driven Next Gen Engagement Coordinator to develop and implement initiatives that engage Jewish young adults (ages 22–40) in meaningful community experiences, Jewish life, leadership opportunities, and philanthropic involvement.
This role may be structured as one full-time position or two part-time positions, depending on candidate availability and organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Community Engagement & Relationship Building
- Build and maintain authentic relationships with young Jewish adults through outreach, events, and partnerships.
- Serve as a connector, helping young adults find their place in Jewish life—social, cultural, spiritual, and philanthropic.
- Represent UJFT at community events and local social spaces.
- Program Development & Implementation
- Share and promote existing opportunities for engagement.
- Plan and execute dynamic programs that reflect the diversity of the Jewish young adult population, including social gatherings, Shabbat dinners, holiday celebrations, service projects, and leadership development.
- Collaborate with synagogues, Hillels, and community partners.
- Manage program logistics, budgets, venues, marketing, and evaluation.
- Leadership & Philanthropy
- Create and support young adult leadership cohorts, committees, and ambassador programs.
- Identify and support emerging young adult leaders.
- Cultivate involvement in Federation campaigns and leadership pipelines.
- Partner with the development team to grow young adult giving and participation.
- Communications & Marketing
- Develop engaging communications including e-newsletters, social media, and targeted outreach.
- Collaborate with marketing to maintain a strong digital presence that resonates with young adults.
- Manage contact databases and track participation metrics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; experience in Jewish communal work, program development, or community organizing a plus.
- Background in relationship-based engagement and inclusive community-building.
- Experience working with or engaging young adult populations.
- Passion for Jewish community and ability to navigate a wide spectrum of Jewish identities and practices.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with Jewish traditions, values, and calendar.
- Flexible schedule with availability for evenings and weekends.
- Proficiency with digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and database systems.
